Job purpose


This Systems Safety Engineer is responsible for identifying, analyzing and controlling occupational hazards and promoting worksite and/or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, psychology, physiology, and industrial health and safety laws.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Advising on safety requirements, designing protective equipment and/or safety devices, redesigning controls to eliminate occupational hazards, developing standards which set tolerances, stress ratios, strength of materials and other related engineering requirements, reviewing proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices, and recommending technical changes as needed. I
  • Works on day-to-day objectives with limited impact beyond the scope of own work area/ project team.  Works under supervision on less complex projects/ assignments.
  • Solves simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies. Develops products, solutions, processes using basic principles, theories and concepts within own technical specialty.
  • Communicates with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, processes and practices related to area.
  • Requires basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of narrow technical domainMaintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
  • All other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or related field, industrial engineering with an emphasis in System Safety a plus. 
  • Science disciplines are also acceptable. 2-5 years' experience in a System Safety engineering capacity.
  • Experience with Flight Electrical and Mechanical hardware, knowledge of SSP 30599 Safety Review Process, and SSP 50021 ISS Safety Requirements. 
  • Strong communication skills, has the ability to interface with customers and effectively manage technical issues to resolution.

Working environment

To This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines." And move the largely sedentary role to the physical requirements section.


  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, limited physical activity is required.


Physical requirements


  • The ability to carry a laptop and the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 10 pounds.

Position Expectations

This is a full-time position. Monday-Friday 8a-5pm

No travel expected for this position.
