Job purpose

This entry-level position provides support to Procedures Management Group in the NASA JSC Flight Operation Directorate (FOD). Members of the Procedures Management Group work closely with other FOD organizations, Flight Directors, International Partners, commercial partners and other NASA organizations and centers to produce operational procedures. The position will require individual to complete training and certification as a Procedures Book Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Duties will include production of procedures for the ISS and Exploration programs, coordinating technical changes to procedures with flight controllers and crew, developing operations concepts documentation, reviews of procedure change requests, scheduling deliveries, and coordinating with international partners on procedure development and delivery.
  • Supports software requirements for procedures tools may be required.
  • Follow-on assignments could include certification as an ODF Console flight controller.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a recent college graduate or must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a completed degree (ABET) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or in a similar field of study by December 2020.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, leadership and team working skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to procedures development is essential.
  • Candidate must show ability to respond under pressure as a Flight Controller for positions in the Multi-Purpose Support Room.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Russian, Japanese, or European language skills are a plus.
  • Candidate with project management experience and knowledge of XML and SharePoint are also a plus.
  • This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Expectations

  • This is a full-time position.
