Job purpose

The Linux System Administrator position performs critical IT activities in support of the users. This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of all Linux servers, network operating systems, backup systems and production database servers. This position ensures that all systems meet the program standards for the production environments.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Direct role in data center operations & backup management.
  • Server asset (Physical & Virtual) management.
  • Backup, Restore monitoring & Trouble shooting.
  • Work with engineers to diagnose and repair hardware problems in lab environments.
  • Document and communicate status, procedures, and plans.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 4 years experience.
  • Linux Server experience required.
  • Basic networking, Windows and MS Office knowledge is a must.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Documentation writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment.

Physical requirements

  • Deployment may be required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Position Expectations

  • This is a full-time position located in Centennial, CO.
  • Telecommuting is currently authorized for this position, but in the future, this position may be required to report to the Centennial office.
  • Must participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation.
  • Must be available to work some evenings in the support of maintenance activities.
