Project Systems Engineer:

- will work embedded on site in the NASA team

- Qty of openings: 1-2


Primary Responsibilities

  • Supports the project's systems engineering structures and processes that lead to certification
  • Systems engineering process development, tailoring, managing, executing, and documenting Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leads and/or executes SE&I centric activities for a project that may include, but not limited to: Architecture definition and functional flows, lifecycle review planning, trade studies, critical path management, and/or risk management
  • Develops and/or manages team collaboration strategies to ensure effective and efficient systems engineering and technical integration in concert with internal, external, and/or international organizations
  • Requirements definition, flow-down, assessment, and verification planning
  • Interface definition and management
  • Integrated analysis and margin management
  • Critical path and technical risk management
  • Certification and acceptance package generation
  • Technical integration leadership and issue resolution across disciplines
  • Coordination and management of qualification and acceptance test requirement definition, assessment, and flow-down from system to unit (component) level
  • Support hardware owners in establishing overall hardware qualification and acceptance test planning to meet applicable requirements
  • Technical review of verification products (test plans, procedures, reports)

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires BS degree and at least three or more years prior relevant experience
  • At least three years of Systems Engineering experience
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience with leading discussions and conflict resolution on multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISS or other NASA Human Spaceflight Program processes for hardware development and certification, anomaly resolution, configuration management, quality assurance, design, requirements/verification, materials
  • Experience with defining Aerospace con ops, architecture, requirements and verifications
  • Experience with presenting technical project status to large groups such as technical NASA boards
  • DOORS Next Generation (DNG) and MagicDraw experience would be helpful, but not required
