Job purpose

The successful candidate will serve as a member of the Distance Learning Production group at Johnson Space Center in the Flight Operations Directorate.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • In this role, the candidate will work with Flight Controllers and Instructors to design and develop training products for NASA Flight Operations Directorate flight controllers and instructors as well as NASA astronauts using various forms of multimedia tools and formats.
  • Responsibilities include Online Lesson Development projects supporting Astronauts and Flight Controllers, converting existing online lessons to new formats, file management, and web page design and development. 
  • May also be assigned to serve as a mentor to college interns serving in the group.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Instructional Technology or equivalent program. 2 years of experience in the field or Master's degree in related field of study.
  • Ability to critically think, problem solve, and effectively communicate. Knowledge and application of instructional design principles with a focus on eLearning and training methodologies utilizing the latest interactive learning technologies.
  • Collaborative self-management: driven and motivated self-starter who can work autonomously. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to design web-based instruction.
  • Strong working knowledge of recording and editing audio and video using eLearning development tools. Proficiency with content authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia Studio.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, and JavaScript structure.
  • Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • Will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements. Digital Media Portfolio required with application.

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

 

Position Expectations

This is a full-time position and hours of work are Monday through Friday

No travel is expected for this position.
