Job purpose

The Electrical / Test Technician will be responsible to support design, development, testing and engineering associated with the Orion Test Laboratory Facilities, Test Equipment, Systems and Subsystems.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds electrical system wiring, connectors, and components using hand tools, power tools, and applicable test equipment.
  • Fabricate harness and electrical assemblies. Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to accomplish work.
  • Work under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician.
  • Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
  • Experience in repairing, replacing, and rebuilding electrical system wiring, connectors, and components using hand tools, power tools and applicable test equipment.
  • Experience in utilizing electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • In addition, candidate will be required to perform logistics activities such as lifting and moving of hardware related to shipping, receiving, installing and maintenance activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.



  • Typical Minimums High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned electrical and maintenance tasks and 3 Year of experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams, and experience in troubleshooting, cable assembly and test.
  • Experience in utilizing electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Very Good technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate effectively to a broad technical community.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team setting.
  • Desired skills
  • Familiarity with Orion Test Laboratory test operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Information Systems such as Electronic Maintenance Instructions, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Knowledge of Tool Control, FOD, Supply, HAZMAT, Training, Quality, and Security programs.

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical requirements

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing as necessary.  This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds

Position Expectations

This is a full-time position 8:00am to 5:00 pm.

Contract: Immediately through 9/30/2018

No travel is expected for this position.
