Job purpose

Seeking candidate with multimedia, graphic and web design background to serve as a member of the Distance Learning Production group at Johnson Space Center in the Flight Operations Directorate. In this role, the successful candidate will work with Flight Controllers and Instructors to design and develop e-Learning products for NASA Flight Operations Directorate flight controllers and instructors as well as NASA astronauts using various forms of multimedia tools and formats.

Duties and responsibilities

Must be able to consult with customers on training requirements on highly technical material. Must be able to perform effectively in a fast paced, demanding work environment. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Other highly desired skills include effective problem solving, high level of attention to detail, and a creative ability to make training material engaging.  A strong desire of maintaining connection with the distance learning field regarding the latest concepts, technologies, and use of media is required. Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Essential Duties:

  • Working in coordination with subject matter experts to design, and develop computer-based and instructor-led training modules to support NASA training initiatives.
  • Audio and video recording, digitizing media, creating user interface/navigation, test construction, animations, and web development to support lesson products.
  • Evaluates emerging training technology and tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Digital Media, or equivalent program
  • Past experience creating E-learning products
  • Expertise with E-Learning authoring tools such as Articulate Studio, Camtasia, Captivate
  • Experience with screen capturing software
  • Strong Audio/video editing skills
  • Experience converting storyboards into e-Learning
  • Experience with web design, HTML, JavaScript, SharePoint
  • Work portfolio is required to showcase skill and experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical requirements

This is largely a sedentary role, however, some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing as necessary.  This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds

This is a full-time position and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  No travel is expected for this position.
