Job purpose

LS-DYNA analyst is needed to develop LS-DYNA models of inflated and semi-inflated Crew Module Uprighting System bags and predict forces on the bags that are fully or partially submerged in water for various static and dynamic states.  Correlating predictions to measured test data is a signifcant part of this task.  The analyst may also be asked to support other landing and structural dynamics analyses according to Lockheed Martin established procedures using Lockheed Martin software and tools.

Duties and responsibilities

  • The ability to independently set up case control and data recovery requests for transient, nonlinear dynamic and impact analysis in LS-DYNA. Experience working with static and dynamic test data from strain gages, pressure sensors, and accelerometers
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or an Advanced degree preferred.
  • Capacity for internal and external working relationships across different business groups.
  • Experience with LS-PrePost mainly in post processing analysis data.
  • Experience developing and running MATLAB scripts
  • Experience with integrating component models into larger integrated models.
  • Experience with fluid structure interaction modelling.
  • Experience with static and dynamic response analysis (modal and direct transient, frequency and time domain) preferably using NASTRAN (NX, MSC)
  • Experience working with anthropomorphic test dummies.

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Expectations

This is a full-time position and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Occasional travel to Houston to support testing and/or for meetings to aid in proper communication between the engineers and management may be required.

Period of Performance

August 15, 2018-12/21/2018 Contract can possibly be extended.
