Design Engineer

Job purpose

Design Engineer to provide level of effort engineering support to the Orion Crew Module Structures team.

Duties and responsibilities

• Tasks shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
• The need includes structural and mechanisms design, vehicle integration modeling, and project engineering tasks to coordinate with loads and dynamics, systems engineering, human factors engineering, and stress engineering. 
• This designer makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.
• Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
• The hardware designs will be for Crew operated equipment while on board the Orion Spacecraft. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications
• Typical minimum experience level to achieve proficiency sufficient to achieve these tasks is 5-8 years professional experience with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent disciplined engineering degree
• PTC Pro-E CAD experience
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Expectations

This is a full-time position and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  No travel is expected for this position.
