Design Engineer

TASK DESCRIPTION:
Design Engineer to provide level of effort engineering support to the Orion Crew Module Structures team. Tasks shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Coordinate with stakeholders, Certified Principal Engineers, and multidisciplinary team members to define design requirements
- Develop CAD required to support design trades and assessments, and to define mechanical interface requirements
- Develop detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings meeting applicable industry and Orion program technical standards using PTC (Pro-E) Creo
- Support the release of detailed part, assembly , and installation drawings using PTC Windchill PDMLink
- Support drawing and technical reviews and update drawings, as required
- Support the build, test, installation, and verification of hardware, as required
- Provide other miscellaneous design support, as required
- Travel - Two possible trips of five business days to KSC (or equivalent)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- PTC Pro-E CAD experience
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with industrial and military/aerospace standards and specifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.

DESIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 to 6 years of professional experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
- Experience in the design of manned spaceflight (NASA) structures
- Experience in the design of large metallic and composite structures
- Experience with mechanical and thermal testing
- Experience with PTC Windchill PDMLink

JOB LOCATION:
- New Orleans, LA (near the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility)
