IPCL Database Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Mid/Senior level engineer with strong technical, planning, and communication skills
• Primary role is to develop/modify ISS engineering data acquired from requirements and design teams. Subsequently, to update ICD data fields and deliver the resulting communication data structures (signal, word, and message structures) representing ISS commands and signal/status data to a larger, global data repository (MBF-STDIN). Will also support generation of readable reports for local data users
• Also maintains several support databases for collection of engineering metrics, and supporting conduct of product peer reviews for generation of CMMi-Level 5 process analysis data.
• Required to build new, and modify existing data structures to aid in the work of the software development team and to create, develop and deliver data products that faithfully represent the flight software and 1553-bus data architecture
• Requires high-level written and verbal communication skills to interface with other program teams in developing data, and to interface with teams in Houston who manage the data repository and final release process for downstream data consumers (ie: command and telemetry build teams, ground displays, on-board displays)
• Requires strong prioritization skills to know when/what data to develop/deliver using program milestones and local flight software schedules. Must have ability to quickly consume and comply with complex delivery requirements, file formats, and delivery protocols.
• Requires team player who participates in a disciplined, documented process of developing man-rated mission-critical software, and who understands the importance of structured change control and data management
• Detailed oriented and careful in development/modification of data, helps in debugging the recursive layers of data, and tracking down the data implementation to full understanding

REQUIREMENTS:
• Position requires proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools
• BS or MS in computer science and/or mathematics/engineering
• Expert-level training/experience with database applications such as MSAccess (preferable) or SQLServer including developing schemas, relationships, queries and underlying code in Visual Basic or equivalent languages
