IT Trainer

TITLE:  IT Trainer

Primarily responsible is to provide training to other program personnel, of program specific applications, web site content management instruction, and procedures, as well as, assist in the definition, creation, and revision of training materials.  These training materials may vary in format from technical training documentation to facilitated delivery materials.

WORK LOCATION:  McMurdo Station, Antarctica

PERIOD OF DEPLOYMENT: October 2016 through February 2017.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create training schedules and class curriculum.

Provides basic Microsoft Office assistance to user community.

Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the IT Training Room and report any maintenance requirements to either the Facilities department or to the IT Help Desk depending on the nature of the repairs needed.

Performs annual/seasonal review of all IT Trainer procedures and related documentation.

Maintains technical competency through online training courses and on-the-job training within IT division.

Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring safety is a high priority in the work place.

Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Computer Science and/or teaching certification preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: None required.

TRAINING: None required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years training course/curriculum design experience required. Minimum of three years training content definition required.  Minimum of three years' experience in end user classroom or online instruction required.  Minimum 5 years Microsoft application support experience is required. Strong technical written and verbal communication skills are required. Excellent customer service skills are required. 

Prior MAXIMO product experience is strongly preferred.

Prior Antarctic deployment experience is preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL ANDIOR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Deployment may be required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations, and psychological examination for winter-over positions, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. Complies with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedure. US citizenship or permanent residence is required.
