Information Technology Manager

As the Information Technology Manager supporting the NASA/JSC Communications, Multimedia, and Information Technology (COMIT) Contract your prior experience will be needed for providing a full array of information technology (IT) products and services to JSC's Information Resource Directorate. The COMIT contract provides information technology operations and maintenance services to support JSC's mission and it's thousands of customers. The IT Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and ensuring the execution of all of the information technology functions to meet the needs and goals of the customer. The IT Manager works as part of the COMIT management team and supervises the information technology staff that carries out their departmental tasks.  This position incorporates elements of managerial work and technical skill, with the manager directing a team of IT specialists. The COMIT IT Manager provides system management tasks such as monitoring upgrades, installations, conversions, and maintenance.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

• Develop requirements, outlines, budgets, and schedulers for information technology projects.
• Oversee all phases of project from conception to completion.
• Assist with upgrading information security.
• Manage team of consultants, programmers, developers, and analysts.
• Identify and propose new information technologies and systems to improve business processes and decision making.
• Work with IT steering committees to establish the strategic direction of the organization's information systems as well as strategy execution
• Work closely with developers and testers to ensure functional designs and also assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel.
• May drive and participate in design, development and implementation.
• Develop and maintain plans, policies, and procedures for all project phases.
• Utilize in-depth technical knowledge and business requirements to design and implement secure solutions to meet customer / client needs while protecting the corporation's assets.

Required Education and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of information technology experience
• BS degree in information technology, engineering, science, mathematics, business, or related field or additional 5 years experience
• Experience in the utilization of ITIL

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MS degree in information technology, engineering, science, mathematics, business, or related field.
• Experience in program management managing information technology projects or programs on behalf of NASA
