Instructional Technologist

Job Description:

Seeking a candidate with software and multimedia design background to serve as a member of the Distance Learning Production group at Johnson Space Center in the Flight Operations Directorate. In this role, the successful candidate will work with Flight Controllers and Instructors to design and develop training products for NASA Flight Operations Directorate flight controllers and instructors as well as NASA astronauts using various forms of multimedia tools and formats. Responsibilities include Online Lesson Development projects supporting Astronauts and Flight Controllers, converting existing online lessons to new formats, file management, and web page design and development.  May also be assigned to serve as a mentor to college interns serving in the group.

Required Education & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Instructional Technology or equivalent program; Minimum of 2 years of instructional technology experience; Ability to critically think, problem solve, and effectively communicate; Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to design web-based instruction; Proficiency in the following applications: MS Office and two or more of the following: Adobe Captivate, Articulate Studio, Storyline 2, HTML/Javascript, and Camtasia.Must be able to consult with customers on training requirements for highly technical jobs. Must be able to perform effectively in a fast paced, demanding work environment. Other highly desired skills include effective problem solving and organizational and time management skills.  Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. A clear demonstration of a consistent practice of maintaining connection with the distance learning field regarding the latest concepts, technologies, and use of media is required.  Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Must have the ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements, when required.  Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
