Position Description

- Work closely with and assist the JPSS Lead Instrument Systems Engineer

with day to day instrument related activities, including guidance and

oversight to the instrument operations engineers. Guidance could range

from general operations philosophies to specific product inputs to

priorities in upcoming work to recommendations for path forward during

test events. Additional work could include coordination with instrument

vendors for support of meetings, test, etc.

- Interact with instrument operations engineers and the spacecraft

operations engineers to understand the interfaces between the two and to

understand the operations of all five instruments.

- Aid in the development and test of command procedures, telemetry

pages, and other products that will be used to operate the JPSS

instruments.

- Support development of test procedures and test execution for system

level, end-to-end tests with the spacecraft.

- Support mission readiness activities including mission rehearsals, mission

timeline development, and post launch test development.

- Support launch, including shift work, for instrument and spacecraft LEO&A

activities.

- Identify and trouble shoot problems with the instruments as anomaly

resolution teams require.

Position Requirements

- Self-starter.

- Team player, good interpersonal skills.

- Spacecraft Instrument Engineering experience.

- MS Office skills necessary.

- Previous experience/proficiency with tools/languages such as MATLAB,

ECLIPSE, CECIL, and Perl is preferred, but not necessary.

• Ability to work shiftwork for an extended period of time.
