MPO Flight Controller

Job Description:

The position provides flight control and training support within the Spaceflight Systems Division of the NASA JSC Flight Operation Directorate (FOD).  The Mechanical Power Officer (MPO) is responsible for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Docking Systems for the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) and Boeing's CST-100 commercial crew vehicle. Tasking would involve design, development, testing, and system fault management evaluation for those vehicles. This may include supporting subsystem level meetings, vehicle reliability assessments, channelization assessments, testing support, display, and procedure development.  Candidate will be expected to eventually complete a certification process and become responsible for operating the vehicle's mechanical and electrical systems from the ground during flights.

Required Education and Skills:

Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years previous experience as a flight controller for human rated space vehicles.  Candidate must be able to perform high visibility tasks with minimal oversight and direction.  Candidate must be able to support a flexible work schedule including shift work.  Minimum education requirements is a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering (ABET).  The position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment. US Citizenship is required.
