Position Description

This position is for a spaceflight robotics electrical engineer that will be responsible for the design and development of flight electronic systems that provide power, actuate, and control robotic motion. This work includes developing electrical designs, block diagrams, EICDs, wire lists, and harness drawings. Work also includes assembling hardware and maintaining equipment including electrical test equipment. The position will be responsible for developing new analog and digital integrated circuit designs including discrete electrical components such as FPGA's to enable robotic functional capability. The position will also be responsible for developing work instructions and procedures, generating schematics, preparing test readiness reviews, testing electrical harnesses for power and telemetry and the integration and testing of electrical systems and writing test reports. The work will be conducted at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, and some travel may be required

Position Requirements

• The candidate is required to have an in-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic design requirements definition, subsystem and circuit testing, test planning and procedure development, conducting system level testing, and has electrical systems integration and testing experience. Attention to detail is required.
• The candidate is also required to have skills and understanding/experience in the following areas:
• ESD environments and mitigation techniques for space applications
• Grounding and grounding requirements for space applications
• Part selection for space applications
• Space charging and mitigation
• Basic PWBPCB designlayoutfabricationtestingverification
• Mechanical integration of PCB's to mechanical enclosures and mechanical mounting
• Basic understanding of simple mechanical mechanisms
• Experience or exposure to working with metallic surface coatings and treatments
• Wire, component, and mechanism sizing as it relates to Currentvoltage and ESD mitigation

Education: Four Year Aerospace or Electrical Engineering Degree
