Senior Software Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Designs, develops and communicates software architecture models with a primary focus on J2EE platforms, Service Oriented Architecture and integration technologies.

Scope: Impacts the proper design and utilization of applications/systems throughout the institution

Translates business and technical requirements into dynamic, proven J2EE based platforms and solutions.

Leads high-level architecture design in-line with current and future business demand.

Drives the creation of new product design requirements and technical specifications.

Participates in the construction and coding of key modules, infrastructure and proofs of concept.

Acts as a technical advisor in support of key development and professional services engagements.

Communicates architectural concepts via mentoring, technical presentations and white papers.

Drives tool selection and technologies for development.

Leads application migration to new platforms, databases and technologies.

Leads performance testing and enhancements for the product.

Evaluates vendor and partner technologies.

Drives tool selection and technologies for development.

REQUIREMENTS:

At least 7 years of solid experience in JAVA Programming and Spring/JavaEE based Web application development  

Strong requirements analysis and software design skills

Experience in using frameworks and tools such as Hibernate, Spring,  JDBC, ANT, JUnit, and Log4J

Experience in developing Web Service components using one or more of the following technologies: SOAP, REST, XML-RPC, WSDL, XML/XSLT, JAXB, JAXP

Experience in developing applications with multi-tier architectures.

Knowledge and Experience in Relational Database systems (Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server) as well as proficiency in enterprise environments

Knowledge and experience in using Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Netbeans, Eclipse or InteliJ Idea, and source control tools such as SVN

Strong experience in developing units test cases and coding them using JUNIT or similar technologies

Experience in deploying applications in JavaEE Application Servers such as JBoss or Tomcat

A team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goals

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Experience working in Agile development environments

Knowledge and experience with web frameworks such as YUI, jQuery, etc.

Using modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect, ERWIN, Visio, etc.

Prior experience developing software in a Biomedical Research or Clinical Care domain
