Senior System Safety Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Develops, documents and maintains system safety processes, methods and tools for the Safety Lead review and approval.

With general direction and guidance, identifies, analyzes and controls hardware and software hazards.

Assists the design team in the evaluation and integration of changes into the design and operational processes.

Develops and delivers oral and written system safety and risk presentations and training to employees, customers and regulatory agencies.

With guidance and approval of lead engineers, identifies/tailors and flows down engineering, manufacturing and operational/contingency safety requirements to internal customers to meet program, enterprise and regulatory objectives.

Conducts safety requirements verification and validation.

Identifies safety requirements and specifications for partner, subcontractor and supplier safety.

Tracks performance and reviews to support deliverables.

Provides visibility on product lifecycle issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and 9+ years of experience

Master's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry with 7 or more years experience

PHD in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry with 4 or more years experience

Experience with manned space flight programs
