Software Developer

Job Purpose

The software developer will be responsible for developing specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and modifying/maintaining existing software.  This position participates in design and coding activities with other staff members.

Duties and responsibilities

• Designs/codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools
• Maintains and modifies existing applications without supervision, as well as under direction from senior staff members
• Assumes responsibility for ongoing data architecture for product
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, Computer Information Science or equivalent on-the-job experience
• Minimum two years of experience as database developer (NOT administrator) working with currently used technological products
• Minimum of two years with currently used shell scripting technologies

Working environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical requirements

Individual must be capable of operating a standard desktop computer; must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. US citizenship or permanent residence is required.

Position Expectations

• This is a full-time position
• Hours of work are Monday through Friday flexible between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with some weekends and additional hours as needed
• 0 - 5% travel expected for this position
• Ability to pass government background check
