Sr Instrumentation Test Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Leads data acquisition and control activities within the multiple environments of the ISS program. This includes leadership of laboratory functional testing and space environments testing (vibration, vacuum, EMC/EMI, etc) Instrumentation Engineer will develop and maintain data acquisition and control systems, select and design transducers, provide data reduction and analysis, prepare test checkout and operational procedures, and support test conduct and reporting. Engineer must have knowledge of data systems design, architecture and measurement techniques. Knowledge of Instrumentation software (e.g. Lab View), open and closed loop control systems and instrumentation wiring required. Transducer selelction and application in multiple environments and an understanding of those requirements is necessary including calibration activities. Position requires data analysis and reporting including understanding of transducer attributes (range, accuracy, etc.), data reduction and presentation to support requirements closure and anomaly resolution, and performing uncertainty analysis to support test reporting. Detailed troubleshooting of anomalies and supporting the program with solutions is essential.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree
Extensive and specialized knowledge of analog and digital signal processing.
Knowledge of data system design, architecture, use, and measurement techniques utilizing transducers and sensors as a signal source.
Extensive and specialized knowledge of network centric data systems design, architecture and measurement techniques utilizing acquisition elements.
Applies knowledge of instrumentation data recording devices and techniques to select the appropriate device for the test application.
Extensive and specialized knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g. wire harness design, grounding and shielding design techniques, lightning protection)
Extensive and specialized knowledge of open and closed loop feedback control systems (e.g., sequencing, ladder logic, PLC, PID) including custom software (e.g. LabView, Linux, C/C++, Visual Basic)
Extensive and specialized knowledge of data acquisition system attributes (e.g. range, accuracy, frequency response, bandwith) to define characteristics of measurements to be recorded.
