JOB DESCRIPTION

This individual will lead the planning, evolution of design, and implementation of System Center Configuration Manager migration from 2007 to 2012 R2 for the USAP's enterprise.
The ideal candidates will have extensive expertise working with System Center Configuration Manager, Active Directory, WSUS Patching and Troubleshooting.
Position works within the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) Information Technology and Communications department (IT&C).

• Under general direction, the Systems Administrator is responsible for installing and maintaining an efficient working environment for a complex network of core production servers supporting the USAP mission and objectives.
• Systems Administrators maintain the operating stability, efficiency and security of the USAP's core production server systems and infrastructure.
• Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, upgrade, migration and system security of a multi-platform environment which includes Microsoft Windows, VMWare and Linux systems.
• Works with other groups (Engineering, Architecture, Client Services, Vessel IT, Security, etc.) to help establish the standards of system architecture, data communications, and system security; disseminates those standards to USAP for program wide compliance.
• Maintains documentation of software and hardware supported in the USAP environment for server level computing activities and disseminates this to other System Administrators and support staff through USAP IT&C.
• Reports weekly to the Systems Operations Manager (and site IT Manager when on-ice) on operational problems, plans, and progress.
• May be required to manage, troubleshoot and diagnose issues in Active Directory, e-mail, DNS, DHCP, file sharing, backups, application servers, and/or other systems and services or hardware as necessary.
• Performs other duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior experience migrating from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 is required.
• Hands-on experience with increasing responsibilities administering client/server applications and hardware in a multi-platform networked environment required.
• High level of expertise in Windows Active Directory required.
• High level of expertise in Windows 2008/2012 required.
• Prior experience working in an enterprise environment with excellent communication, leadership and scripting skills is required.
• Requires ability to work independently as well as coordinate remote installations with on-site staff with limited bandwidth and intermittent connectivity.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Experience with mobile device management in SCCM
• Experience with HP Storage Area Networks (SAN) is desired.
• Administration of complex Group Policy objects is desired.
• Active directory design and management skills are desired.
• Windows 2008/2012 server administration skills are desired.
• Microsoft SQL administration skills are desired.
